Moving Beyond Healing

“If Healing is closure or return to normativity, you might be returning to the very logic that gave birth to the need for healing in the first place.” ~ Báyò Akómoláfé

This space expresses my many years of learning how to live in a body with pain, and the complexities around healing.

I started this page as a way to keep accountable to my writing, which is hard to do. If you wish to subscribe, I will be so pleased to have you here with me.

Moving Beyond Healing also shares with you musings on embodiment and how we grew (embryology), embodied anatomy and astrology. I want to write about our bodies as the more than human, as we clearly don’t end at our skin. Sprinkled within will be some humorous bits, with the occasional rant.

I am Registered Somatic Movement Educator, writer, bookkeeper, queer, weirdo, human. Visit my website if you want to know about my online courses.

HERE’S A FEW THINGS I WISH FOR:

I want us to believe in the power of making pleasure a central part of our lives. I would love if everyone read adrienne maree brown’s book, Pleasure Activism.

I want to live in a world that embraces non-conformity. I wish we all understood that bodies are fluid and that maturity means to maintain curiosity and creativity. I would love if everyone knew who Alok is.

I want people with disabilities and other marginalized communities to be centered in our societies, because I truly believe that’s how we will all thrive.
